Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could feature IP68 ratings, Slimmer Hinge, Upgraded Cameras
Google is gearing up to unveil the Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel 10 Pro Fold soon. While CAD-based renders and some specifications have already surfaced, a new report suggests that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold may be one of the first foldable smartphones to feature an IP68 rating for both dust and water resistance.
First Foldable with Full IP68 Protection? -
The upcoming vivo X Fold5, expected to launch later this week, is set to debut with IPX8 (up to 3 meters of water immersion), IPX9 (resistance to high-temperature, high-pressure water), and IPX9+ (folding under water) ratings, along with IP5X dust protection.
Although the Pixel 10 Pro Fold might not be the first foldable with IPX8 water resistance, it could be the first to receive an IP6X rating for dust protection. That said, rumors also suggest that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7, launching on July 9th, could take the title of the first foldable with a full IP68 rating.
For context, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold featured an IPX8 rating, offering water resistance without full dust protection.
Design and Display Enhancements -
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to feature a slimmer hinge for improved ergonomics and a more refined design. The outer display is also said to be slightly larger at 6.4 inches.
Camera Upgrades -
The foldable is rumored to use a 50MP Samsung GN8 sensor (1/1.95"), the same as the Pixel 10, replacing the previous 48MP Sony IMX787 (1/2") sensor. It will reportedly retain the 12MP ultra-wide and 11MP front cameras found in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Launch Timeline -
Google is expected to introduce the Pixel 10 series during its “Made by Google” event on August 20, 2025. Pre-orders are likely to begin the same day, with shipping starting on August 28.
