HONOR Magic8 Pro Among First Smartphones to Receive Android 17 Beta 3

HONOR has announced that its flagship smartphone, the HONOR Magic8 Pro, will be the first device in the industry to support Android 17 Beta 3. The release is aimed at helping developers test upcoming features, improve app compatibility, and optimize software integration with the device hardware ahead of the official Android rollout.

Android 17 Beta 3 introduces a range of functional, visual, and security-focused enhancements designed to improve both developer flexibility and the overall user experience.

Key Interface and Multitasking Improvements -

The beta update brings several notable changes to navigation and interface customization:

• System-wide Bubbles - Multitasking capabilities have been expanded, allowing developers to optimize virtually any app for floating window support. Applications can now shrink into floating icons and remain accessible anywhere on the screen, enabling users to continue using specific tools while switching between apps.
• Refined Quick Settings - Wi-Fi and mobile data controls are now separated into individual Quick Settings tiles, making it easier for users to toggle each connection independently with a single tap.
• Updated Screen Recording UI - A redesigned pill-shaped menu now lets users choose whether to record the entire screen or only a specific application.
• Enhanced Home Screen Customization - Developers can adjust the appearance of the Photo Picker, including changing the grid aspect ratio from a 1:1 square layout to a 9:16 portrait format. Users also gain the option to hide app labels on the home screen for a cleaner, minimalist look.

• Session-Based Location Access - A new system-provided Location Button allows apps to request precise location access only for the current session, helping reduce unnecessary background tracking.
• Improved Network and Code Security - Android 17 Beta 3 now blocks local network access by default and enforces read-only dynamic code loading to reduce the risk of injection-based attacks.
• Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) - To prepare for future cybersecurity threats, Android is adopting PQC through a new hybrid APK signature scheme.
