HUAWEI Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro and Pura 90 Pro Max launched with up to 6.9-inch 120Hz FHD+ OLED Display, Kirin 9010S/9030S SoC

HUAWEI has launched its latest smartphone in the Pura 90 Series, the HUAWEI Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and Pura 90 Pro Max in China. The announcement was made alongside the debut of the Pura X Max, touted as the industry’s first horizontally foldable smartphone.

Pura 90 -

The Pura 90 adopts a melody-inspired design language, featuring smooth, flowing lines and a lightweight build. It is available in Roland Purple, Snowy White, and Velvet Black colour options.

The device sports a 6.8-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2856 × 1320 pixels. It supports a 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 1.07 billion colours, and the P3 wide colour gamut. For protection, it comes with Kunlun Glass.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Kirin 9010S chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It packs a 6500mAh battery with support for 100W wired SuperCharge and 50W wireless SuperCharge.

Unlike its higher-end siblings, the Pura 90 does not feature XMAGE imaging and instead relies on Huawei’s Red Maple Imaging system for natural colour reproduction and improved light and shadow accuracy.

Camera -

The rear camera setup includes:

• 50MP primary sensor (f/1.8, OIS)
• 12.5MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2)
• 50MP periscope telephoto lens (f/2.2, OIS)
• Red Maple original colour camera

For zoom capabilities, it offers approximately 3.7x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.

On the front, the phone houses a 50MP portrait camera with autofocus (f/2.0).

In terms of video, the rear cameras support up to 4K recording with AIS stabilisation and 1080p slow-motion at 480fps, while the front camera can record videos in up to 4K resolution.

The Pura 90 Pro adopts a holiday-inspired design and is offered in Pink Guava, Orange Soda, Coconut White, and Mulberry Black colour options.

It features a 6.6-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2760 × 1256 pixels, along with a 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate. The screen is protected by second-generation Kunlun Glass.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Kirin 9030S chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. It houses a 6000mAh battery, supporting 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Camera -

The smartphone comes equipped with XMAGE Smart Photography.

The rear camera setup includes:

• 50MP primary sensor with variable aperture (f/1.4–f/4.0) and OIS
• 12.5MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2)
• 50MP macro telephoto lens (f/2.1, OIS)
• Second-generation Red Maple original colour camera

For zoom, it offers approximately 4x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom.

On the front, there is a 13MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus (f/2.0).

In terms of video capabilities, the rear cameras support up to 4K recording with AIS stabilisation, as well as 1080p slow-motion at 960fps and macro video shooting. The front camera also supports video recording up to 4K resolution.

The Pura 90 Pro Max sits at the top of the lineup and is available in Orange Sea, Sunset Purple, Emerald Lake, Morning Gold, and Obsidian Black colour options.

It sports a 6.9-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2880 × 1308 pixels, paired with anti-reflective Kunlun Glass for added durability.

The device is powered by the Kirin 9030S chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. It houses a 6000mAh battery, supporting 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

Camera -

The smartphone features XMAGE Smart Photography with enhanced telephoto capabilities.

HarmonyOS 6.1 brings a range of AI-powered tools and enhanced interactive experiences to the Pura 90 Series.

AI Smart Photography features include:

• Style cards for adjusting mood and texture
• 3D dynamic photos with depth-based motion effects
• Portrait enhancements with advanced lighting effects

The Xiaoyi AI assistant enables voice-driven interaction, delivering real-time responses, guidance, voice-based photo editing, and image generation. It also introduces Xiaoyi Time Machine for creating memory albums and travel journals, along with the ability to generate comic-style stories from photos.

Additionally, the system incorporates interactive mascot characters, dynamic wallpapers, and immersive themes, offering a more personalised user interface.

Connectivity & Audio -

The HUAWEI Pura 90 Series supports dual SIM functionality across all models with physical SIM cards, while eSIM support is limited to the Pura 90 Pro Max. The Pura 90 and Pura 90 Pro do not include eSIM support. Audio across the lineup is powered by Huawei Histen stereo sound effects.

For connectivity in remote locations, the series features Beidou satellite messaging, enabling off-grid communication during travel, trekking, or emergencies. It also includes an Outdoor Exploration Mode with:

• Compass functionality
• Route tracking
• Return navigation assistance
• Signal prediction for improved safety
• Emergency rescue features

On the security front, the devices come equipped with multiple protection tools, including StarShield Anti-Fraud mode for scam prevention, scam call detection alerts, remote call hang-up options for family safety, and encrypted sharing with time-limited access that avoids storing sensitive data in backups.
