Microsoft launched new Surface Laptop for Business and Surface Pro for Business powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors

Microsoft has announced its next-generation Surface for Business lineup, unveiling the new Surface Pro for Business and Surface Laptop for Business models.
The new commercial devices are powered by the latest Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and are now rolling out in select markets. Microsoft says the updated portfolio is designed to improve enterprise productivity by enhancing edge AI capabilities and upgrading hardware performance.
The company also confirmed plans to expand the lineup later this year with additional variants powered by Snapdragon X2 processors, offering businesses alternative options focused on local AI processing and improved battery efficiency.
Performance and Hardware -
Microsoft says Intel’s new Core Ultra Series 3 platform brings major performance upgrades across the Surface for Business lineup.
- Graphics Performance: Configurations powered by the Intel Core Ultra X7 processor are claimed to offer up to 35% better graphics performance than the MacBook Air with M5, and up to 90% faster performance than the previous-generation Surface Laptop 5.
- Productivity Enhancements: The integrated Core Ultra Series 3 GPU is optimized for demanding enterprise tasks, including data analysis, content creation, and real-time presentations, while maintaining portability.

The 13-inch Surface model is positioned as an ultraportable premium device with support for Wi-Fi 7 and a removable Gen 4 SSD for easier enterprise servicing.
Meanwhile, the larger 13.8-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptop models are aimed at productivity-focused users, offering battery life of up to 23 hours. Select 13.8-inch configurations also include an optional integrated privacy screen.
Security and Firmware Improvements -
Microsoft continues to emphasize security across its hardware ecosystem by shipping every device as a Secured-core PC, integrating chip-to-cloud protection within the company’s broader security framework.
Key security features include:
- Memory-Safe Firmware: Microsoft says Surface is the first commercial PC portfolio to use Rust-based drivers alongside a secure embedded controller built on the open-source Project Mu and Open Device Partnership (ODP) UEFI platform, helping reduce firmware-level vulnerabilities.
- Integrated Privacy Display: Select 13.8-inch Surface Laptop models feature a built-in anti-glare privacy filter that can be activated instantly with a keyboard shortcut or centrally managed by IT administrators.
- Simplified Firmware Updates: Firmware updates are delivered directly through Windows Update, reducing the need for third-party deployment tools.
Design, Sustainability, and Repairability -
The updated Surface hardware continues to focus on enterprise usability while incorporating sustainability improvements.
- Productivity-Oriented Displays: All models feature Microsoft’s signature 3:2 aspect ratio display, designed to maximize vertical workspace and reduce eye strain with anti-reflective coatings.
- Haptic Touchpad Feedback: The Surface Laptop includes advanced tactile feedback within the touchpad for more precise navigation and multitasking gestures.
- Sustainability Goals: The 13.8-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptop models, along with the 13-inch Surface Pro, use enclosures made from 100% recycled aluminum. The devices are also ENERGY STAR certified and exceed baseline energy efficiency standards by at least 45%.
- Repairability Improvements: Microsoft says nearly every major hardware component is replaceable. The company has also streamlined repairs with reduced adhesive usage, dedicated replacement part availability, and internal visual guides that allow technicians to service devices using standard tools.
