Motorola edge 70 max launched in India starting at Rs. 54,999 with 6.8-inch 2K 144Hz LTPO AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, 7100mAh battery

Motorola has launched its latest flagship smartphone in the Edge 70 series, the Motorola Edge 70 max in India, as it had promised. Designed for power users and mobile gamers, the smartphone combines Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset, a large Silicon-Carbon battery, advanced cooling technology, premium build quality, and a range of AI-powered features.

Performance and Advanced Cooling

The Motorola Edge 70 max is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built on a 3nm process with a 3.8GHz Prime Core. Motorola claims the chipset achieves an AnTuTu score of over 3.2 million, delivering up to 36% faster CPU performance, 11% improved GPU performance, and 46% higher AI processing capabilities compared to the previous generation. The device is paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage.

To maintain sustained performance during intensive gaming sessions, the phone features the ArcticMesh Cooling System. It combines a 5,500mm² vapor chamber with a total of 29,550mm² of thermal management materials, including liquid metal and thermal paste on the main PCB. According to Motorola, the cooling system can lower CPU temperatures by up to 7.1°C under heavy workloads.

2K AMOLED Display

The smartphone sports a 6.8-inch Quad HD+ (2K) Extreme AMOLED LTPO flat display with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. It offers a pixel density of 510ppi, reaches a peak brightness of 7,000 nits, and delivers a 96.8% screen-to-body ratio.

The display is Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated for accurate colour reproduction and skin tones. It also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Battery and Charging

The Motorola edge 70 max packs a 7,100mAh battery using fourth-generation Silicon-Carbon technology while maintaining an 8.29mm slim profile.

According to Motorola, the battery offers:

• Up to 25 hours of continuous gaming
• Up to 42 hours of video playback
• Up to 58 hours of mixed usage

The phone supports 90W TurboPower wired charging, which can charge the battery to 50% in around 21 minutes. It also introduces 25W Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging with MagSafe accessory compatibility, enabling a full wireless charge in approximately 86 minutes. In addition, the device supports 5W wired reverse charging for compatible accessories.

AI-Enhanced Camera System

The Motorola edge 70 max features a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera offering a 120-degree field of view that also doubles as a macro camera. On the front, it houses a 32MP selfie camera capable of recording 4K videos.

The camera system is powered by moto AI and includes AI-powered colour, clarity, and texture optimisation. Additional imaging features include 4K video recording on all cameras, 360° Horizon Lock, AI Adaptive Stabilization, Audio Zoom, AI Action Shot, and Frame Match.

Android 16 and moto AI Features

The smartphone runs Android 16 with Motorola's Hello UX interface. The company has promised three major Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.

The software integrates Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity while introducing Motorola Qira, the company's on-device AI assistant.

• Catch Me Up: Summarises notifications across connected devices.
• Recall: Lets users search chats and screenshots using natural language.
• Creator Zone: Includes Scribble to Image, Create Avatar, and Style Sync for AI-generated content creation.

Premium Build and Durability

The motorola edge 70 max features an aircraft-grade aluminium frame with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on both the front and rear panels.

The smartphone is MIL-STD-810H certified after passing 16 durability tests, including drop resistance from up to 1.8 metres and reliable operation in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C.

It also carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure hot water jets.

The phone is available in Pantone Aqua Gray, Pantone Ice Melt, and Pantone Dark Shadow colour options, developed in collaboration with the Pantone Colour Institute.

Additional features include Wi-Fi 7, ThinkShield security, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and Snapdragon Sound support.
