Mozilla teams up with Spice and Intex in India to launch Firefox OS phones
Mozilla has joined hands with Spice and Intex to launch the first Firefox OS phone in India. The reference design is a $25 device which features a SpreadTrum SC6821 processor with a 3.5-inch HVGA display, integrated Bluetooth, WiFi, FM and Camera.
Although its not known whether this will be reference design to be used by both Spice and Intex. But its clear the Mozilla is aiming at the budget segment in India with the Firefox OS. We might see more from Mozilla at the Mobile Asia Expo.
Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Business Head, Mobile, Intex Technologies (India) Ltd, said regarding the partnership:
