Update - POCO has officially announced that the POCO M8 5G will launch in India on January 8. The company says the M8 5G marks a new, design-focused direction for its mid-range lineup. While the M-series has historically emphasized affordability and performance, early teasers indicate that this generation places greater importance on aesthetics and overall build quality.

POCO is also marketing the device as the slimmest smartphone in its segment. It features a dual-tone finish, reflecting a contemporary design approach aimed at younger users who value style as much as performance.

According to POCO, the M8 5G is built around three key pillars:

Style - A refreshed look with a dual-tone rear design
Durability - Improved build quality for daily usage
Usability - A slim 7.35mm profile and lightweight 178g body for better in-hand comfort

Earlier - POCO has begun teasing the launch of its next 5G smartphone, the POCO M8 5G in India. The teaser carries the tagline “Designed to Slay”, with POCO stating, “Power in your palm. Focus in every frame. POCO M8 5G doesn’t show up to compete; it shows up to finish.”

The teaser hints at a familiar rear design, showcasing a dual-tone finish similar to what we’ve seen on earlier POCO models, including the POCO X7.

Meanwhile, press renders of the POCO M8 5G surfaced last week, revealing three colour options and a dual rear camera setup. The smartphone is tipped to feature a 6.77-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and be powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 SoC. For global markets, it is expected to launch with configurations of up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.

Additionally, the device is said to house a 5,520mAh battery with 45W fast charging support and carry an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance.

More details about the POCO M8 5G are expected to emerge in the coming days, ahead of its official debut in January 2026. The POCO M8 Pro 5G is expected to arrive later, possibly in February or March, and both will be available on Flipkart.
