POCO M8x 5G launching in India on August 21 with Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC, up to 12GB RAM
POCO has confirmed the launch of its upcoming smartphone in the M8 series, the POCO M8x 5G in India on August 21. The announcement comes shortly after the company introduced the M8 Power 5G earlier this month. The new smartphone will be available online through Flipkart and will be promoted with the tagline “Power Ka Naya Swag.”
Key Confirmed Specifications and Features
- Processor: The M8x 5G will be the first smartphone in India to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor. Built using a 4nm process, the chipset is claimed to achieve an AnTuTu benchmark score of more than 650,000.
- Memory and Storage: The smartphone will offer up to 12GB of combined RAM, including 6GB of virtual RAM expansion. It will use LPDDR4X RAM along with UFS 2.2 internal storage.
- Thermal Management: POCO has equipped the device with a Triple Cooling system comprising a 12,439mm² ultra-large graphite sheet, a 1,924mm² copper foil layer, and a 3.5W high-efficiency thermal gel to help manage heat during intensive usage.
- Design: The M8x 5G will feature a flat-frame design with a textured green rear panel. The dual-camera module will have a golden accent, accompanied by an LED flash.
- Software Longevity: POCO claims the smartphone is optimized to deliver up to 48 months of smooth, lag-free performance.
Market Positioning
The POCO M8x 5G will further expand the company’s M8 series, joining existing models such as the M8 5G and M8 Power 5G. The smartphone is expected to be positioned below Rs. 20,000, and it will be available only on Flipkart. It is targeting users looking for affordable 5G connectivity along with gaming-focused performance and enhanced thermal management.
POCO is expected to announce the official pricing, storage and RAM variants, and complete specifications at the launch event later this week.
