REDMAGIC has launched its latest flagship gaming tablet, the REDMAGIC Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, in China as the successor to last year's Gaming Tablet 3 Pro. The compact gaming device will also be introduced in global markets under the name REDMAGIC Astra 2 Gaming Tablet.

Built for mobile gamers, the tablet combines flagship hardware with several industry-first technologies, including an active liquid cooling system and a 185Hz OLED esports display for an enhanced gaming experience.

Design and Display

The REDMAGIC Gaming Tablet 5 Pro adopts the company's signature transparent design language, featuring a clear rear panel that showcases the internal liquid cooling system.

The tablet features a 9.06-inch form factor with ultra-slim 4.9mm bezels, delivering a 90.1% screen-to-body ratio. It also incorporates a completely flat back panel and a rigid aluminum alloy frame, improving grip comfort while helping dissipate heat during long gaming sessions.

Adding to its gaming aesthetics, the transparent rear houses an RGB lighting system consisting of 11 individually controlled LED units, allowing users to customize lighting effects.

Performance

The tablet is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, built on a 3nm process, and is paired with the proprietary RedCore R4 gaming chip. While the Snapdragon chipset handles primary computing tasks, the RedCore R4 manages graphics acceleration and memory optimization to reduce processor workload and deliver smoother gameplay.

REDMAGIC has also integrated its Energy Cube 3.0 AI optimization engine, which intelligently allocates CPU, GPU, and memory resources in real time to maintain stable frame rates across demanding games.

The hardware platform supports gaming at up to 2K resolution and offers frame interpolation up to 144Hz in more than 200 compatible titles.

Display and Touch Experience

The Gaming Tablet 5 Pro features a 2.4K OLED esports display utilizing advanced X10 luminous material. The panel supports adaptive refresh rates of 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, and up to an industry-leading 185Hz to balance smooth visuals with power efficiency.

The display reaches a peak brightness of 1,600 nits (1,100 nits full-screen) and carries SGS certifications for low blue light and flicker-free performance to reduce eye fatigue.

Touch performance is handled by a dedicated Synaptics S3930 touch controller, offering:

• 300Hz multi-touch sampling rate
• Up to 2000Hz instantaneous touch response
• 1ms ultra-low input latency
• Wet-touch algorithm for accurate input even with light moisture or sweaty fingers

Cooling System

To maintain sustained performance, REDMAGIC has equipped the tablet with what it describes as the industry's first active liquid cooling system in a tablet.

The solution uses fluorinated liquid coolant circulating through nano-sealed tubes via a 0.48mm ultra-thin micro pump. The active cooling setup works alongside Liquid Metal 3.0, a large vapor chamber, and a multi-layer heat dissipation structure to efficiently transfer heat away from key internal components.

Battery and Charging

The tablet packs an 8,300mAh battery. The Chinese model supports 80W fast charging and reverse charging for compatible accessories.

It also features a dual USB Type-C design, with one port positioned for comfortable charging during landscape gaming. Both ports support bypass charging, allowing power to flow directly to the system instead of the battery, helping reduce heat buildup and improve battery longevity.

Audio, Connectivity, and Features

The REDMAGIC Gaming Tablet 5 Pro runs REDMAGIC OS 11.5, which includes the MORA AI Agent 2.0. The AI suite assists with gameplay recording, video editing, intelligent performance optimization, and an eye-care e-ink reading mode.
