Samsung Begins Testing One UI 8 based on Android 16 for Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung has begun testing One UI 8, based on Android 16—an ironic move considering One UI 7, built on Android 15, has yet to be released despite months of testing. That update is finally set to roll out next month, only for the wait to begin anew as Google plans to launch Android 16 in June.

While we hope Samsung will be quicker this time around, there's no guarantee. The fact that internal testing for One UI 8 has already begun is promising, but it's not enough to draw conclusions just yet.

Today, the first One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S25 series appeared on Samsung's firmware servers. Encouragingly, development has started two months ahead of schedule. However, with Android 16 possibly arriving earlier than expected, there's a chance One UI 8 could be released by year's end. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
