Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 8 beta update, based on Android 16, just under two months after the stable release of One UI 7. According to the company, One UI 8 focuses on three core pillars: enhanced multimodal capabilities, UX optimized for various device form factors, and personalized, proactive suggestions.

One UI 8 is designed to understand user context and deliver tailored recommendations. New features like ‘Now Bar’ and ‘Now Brief’ will provide customized insights and suggestions powered by AI, helping users better manage tasks and daily routines.

Samsung emphasizes user privacy and transparency, with One UI 8 giving users control over how their data is processed. Many Galaxy AI features will operate through a hybrid model, combining on-device and cloud-based processing. Users will have the option to keep data local for improved privacy.

Beyond AI improvements, One UI 8 introduces a range of features aimed at everyday convenience:

    • Auracast Support - Leveraging Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast allows users to share audio via QR codes. Multiple compatible devices—like Galaxy Buds3 or hearing aids—can join a shared audio stream seamlessly.
    • Smarter Customer Support - Repair services are being streamlined with QR and NFC-based registration via Samsung Account, reducing wait times and eliminating the need for manual forms.
    • Reminder App Revamp - The Reminder app is getting a redesigned, user-friendly interface, making it easier to manage tasks such as travel planning. Users can organize reminders, share to-do lists, and add tasks via voice commands.
    • Improved File Sharing - Quick Share is becoming even more efficient. With just a tap on the Quick Share button in the Quick Settings panel, users can quickly send or receive files.

More enhancements are expected as the beta progresses, giving users a preview of what’s coming in Samsung's next-generation software experience.

Samsung has officially launched the One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series in South Korea, the U.S., the U.K., and Germany, starting today, May 28th. Galaxy S25 users in these regions can enroll in the beta program through the Samsung Members app.

The company stated that the beta update will gradually expand to additional Galaxy devices and roll out in more countries over time.

The stable version of One UI 8 is scheduled to launch later this year. Before that, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphones, expected to include the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7, which are likely to ship with the new software pre-installed.
