Samsung’s First Tri-Fold Smartphone Could Launch at Galaxy Unpacked Event this Month
Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold smartphone appears to be moving closer to launch, with reports indicating that the device has already entered mass production. According to a new report from ET News, the company may unveil the device sooner than expected—possibly at a special Unpacked event later this month—with a commercial release planned for November.
New supply chain details indicate that Samsung has scaled back its production target to approximately 50,000 units, a significant reduction from earlier expectations of 200,000 units. This limited production highlights the company’s cautious approach, treating the model as a first-generation trial device to gauge consumer interest in the tri-fold form factor.
The device, rumored under placeholder names like Galaxy G Fold or Galaxy Z TriFold, will reportedly see a restricted launch. Samsung is said to be limiting sales to just South Korea and China, likely to keep demand focused and to avoid drawing attention away from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7.
If accurate, the tri-fold will mark Samsung’s boldest step yet in foldable innovation, though its availability will remain highly exclusive in its initial phase.
