Sony Xperia 1 VII to be launched on May 13 Globally; Expected Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC
Sony has officially scheduled its next Xperia product launch event for May 13, where it's expected to unveil the Xperia 1 VII, its next-generation flagship smartphone. The company has already confirmed that upcoming Xperia models will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform in 2025, suggesting that this chipset will power the new flagship.
A recent Geekbench listing under model number XQ-FS54 confirmed the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, 12GB of RAM, and Android 15 onboard.
The device also passed through US FCC certification, revealing its dimensions—162 x 74.5 x 8.5mm—making it slightly thicker than its predecessor. The listing also confirmed a 5000mAh typical / 4850mAh minimum battery, similar to the previous model.
Rumours suggest the 6.5-inch display will be retained, and the camera setup will include a 48MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto lens with 70–200mm focal range, and a 12MP front-facing camera.
The Sony Xperia launch event will take place on May 13 at 11:00 AM JST (7:30 AM IST), and a live premiere is scheduled for the occasion.
