Sony Xperia 1 VII launched Globally with 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED 120Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, improved ultra-wide camera
Sony has officially launched its latest flagship Camera smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII (pronounced “Mark 7”) in the Global market at an online event, as anticipated. The device features a 6.5-inch FHD+ LTPO display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio—similar to its predecessor, but now 20% brighter.
To enhance visibility in bright environments, Sony has added an additional light sensor on the back of the phone, allowing it to adjust screen brightness and color tones based on ambient lighting conditions.
Under the hood, the Xperia 1 VII is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and vapor chamber cooling. It runs Android 15 and will receive four major OS updates along with six years of security patches.
Enhanced Ultra-Wide Camera -
The phone maintains the 52MP main camera with an Exmor T sensor, Zeiss optics, and a variable focal length from 24mm to 48mm. The 12MP periscope telephoto lens supports an 85mm to 170mm range, offering up to 7x zoom.
The ultra-wide camera has been significantly upgraded to a 48MP 1/1.56-inch sensor—2.1 times larger than before—reducing distortion and supporting macro photography as close as 5cm.
New AI Camera Capabilities -
Sony introduces ‘AI Camera Work,’ a feature designed to deliver pro-level video stabilization and composition by keeping the subject centered even while filming on the move. Complementing this is ‘Auto Framing,’ which uses AI to track and crop video footage to keep the subject properly framed without requiring manual adjustments.
Audio Inspired by Walkman Heritage -
The Xperia 1 VII also incorporates high-grade audio components inspired by Sony’s Walkman line, enhancing sound clarity especially through wired headphones. This, along with a specialized circuit design, brings audio quality close to that of a dedicated music player.
The device features Sony’s ‘DSEE Ultimate’ enhancement technology, which uses AI to upscale compressed audio—both wired and wireless—delivering rich, immersive sound. Full-Stage stereo speakers have been fine-tuned for balanced audio output across all frequencies, and the phone also supports 360 Reality Audio and Dolby Atmos.
Durable and Power-Packed -
Built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus on the back, the Xperia 1 VII is both IP65 and IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. It retains the side-mounted fingerprint sensor and houses a 5000mAh battery with 30W fast charging and Qi wireless charging. Sony claims the battery will maintain healthy performance for up to four years.

The Sony Xperia 1 VII is available in Moss Green, Orchid Purple, and Slate Black. It is priced at €1,499 (approx. USD 1,665 / ₹1,41,245) and £1,399 in the UK (approx. USD 1,843 / ₹1,56,325).
