Vivo X Fold5 launched with 8.03-inch 120Hz LTPO AMOLED displays, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, IPX9+ ratings, 6000mAh battery

Vivo has just launched its latest flagship foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold5 foldable in China, as expected. The device features an expansive 8.03-inch 2K+ LTPO internal display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak local brightness of up to 4,500 nits. The outer screen measures 6.53 inches, offers FHD+ resolution, and also uses a 120Hz LTPO panel with the same brightness capabilities.

A key innovation in the vivo X Fold5 is its hinge-integrated antenna, which maximizes internal space efficiency while maintaining reliable network performance when folded.

In collaboration with Qualcomm, vivo has optimized the device for multi-standard signal coexistence. It also incorporates vivo’s proprietary dual-screen enhanced antenna technology, where the main and secondary screen antennas operate independently when unfolded and work in tandem when folded—improving signal strength by 36%.

Vivo claims the X Fold5 delivers an uninterrupted high-speed rail video conferencing experience, achieving 99% lag-free performance during Tencent Meetings on the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway.

The X Fold5 stands out as the only foldable phone in the market with IPX8, IPX9, and IPX9+ water resistance ratings, capable of withstanding 80°C hot water and high-pressure jets. It is also the first foldable to be IP5X certified for dust resistance. The device is designed for extreme environments, functioning normally at -20℃. On a single charge, it can support 20 hours of calls, nearly 10 hours of navigation, and over 4 hours of video recording.

In terms of photography, the phone sports a 50MP main “ultra-sensing” camera with a 1/1.56″ Sony IMX921 sensor, an f/1.57 aperture, and OIS. It also includes a 50MP 3x telephoto lens (Sony IMX882) and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. For selfies, there are dual 20MP front-facing cameras.

The vivo X Fold5 breaks new ground in ecosystem integration. It is the first Android device capable of connecting to an Apple Watch, enabling users to answer calls, read messages, and sync health data to the vivo Health app. It also supports seamless compatibility with AirPods and introduces Mac file system access—users can browse, drag, and drop files, or use the phone as a secondary Mac display.

The phone can receive and manage iPhone calls, messages, and notifications directly. Additionally, iPhones can connect to the X Fold5’s hotspot with ease.

Under the hood, the X Fold5 packs a 6,000mAh “blue ocean” battery—the industry's first to use fourth-generation silicon negative electrode technology, offering up to 866Wh/L energy density. This translates to a 13% increase at room temperature and 20% at low temperatures compared to the previous generation. It also features second-generation semi-solid-state battery tech, supporting reliable power delivery even at -30℃.

Developed in partnership with CATL, the device also debuts a revolutionary double-layer electrode structure, increasing silicon content in the negative electrode to 12%—2.5 times more than its predecessor. The phone supports 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging.
