Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max to be launched on September 2026 with 200MP Periscope Camera, 4K 240fps Video and 17EV Dynamic Range
Vivo has officially confirmed that its upcoming flagship X500 smartphone series will debut in China this September. The new lineup will succeed the X300 series and arrive during a particularly busy period for smartphone launches.
According to vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao and additional information shared by tipster Digital Chat Station, the X500 series will reportedly include three models: the vivo X500, vivo X500 Pro, and vivo X500 Pro Max.
Internally known as “Thanos 500,” a name that builds on the nickname associated with the telephoto capabilities of the previous X100 Ultra, the new series is expected to deliver major upgrades in five key areas: video, photography, performance, display, and software.
Key Camera and Hardware Features
- Zeiss Ultra Dynamic Main Camera: The primary camera is being developed by vivo’s Blueprint team in collaboration with Sony. It is expected to use a 50MP 1/1.28-inch sensor, reportedly called the Blueprint Phantom or Guangyu 900, with an industry-leading 17EV dynamic range. This could enable cinema-style exposure control when recording video, particularly in challenging high-contrast and backlit scenes.
- High-Frame-Rate Video: The new sensor is said to support native 4K video recording at 240fps for slow-motion footage, along with direct 4K 120fps HDR video output.
- Gimbal-Level Stabilization: The primary camera will reportedly feature a 3-degree wide-angle Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system combined with CIPA 7.0-level stabilization, aiming to deliver smoother handheld footage.
- Periscope Telephoto Camera: Continuing the camera-focused approach of previous flagship models, the X500 series is expected to feature a custom 200MP HP0 large-sensor periscope telephoto camera.
With these upgrades, vivo is positioning the X500 series as a significant step forward in smartphone cinematography, with the goal of bringing mobile video capabilities closer to those offered by dedicated professional recording equipment.
