Xiaomi 18 Fold to be launched on September 7th with 7.58-inch foldable/5.38-inch outer OLED screens, XRING O3 SoC, LPDDR6 RAM, 6000mAh battery

Xiaomi has officially announced that its autumn flagship product launch event will take place in China on September 7. The event is expected to introduce a wide range of products, including the company’s SkyNomad range-extended electric vehicle (EREV) family SUVs—the N70 Pro, N70 Max and N90 Max. Xiaomi will also unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, along with the Xiaomi Mi Pad 9 Pro Max tablet.
Xiaomi 18 Fold Introduces “Mid-Fold” Design

The Xiaomi 18 Fold will be one of the key highlights of the upcoming event. The company describes the device as featuring a new “mid-folding” architecture, positioning it at the premium end of Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone lineup.
Co-developed with Leica, the foldable features ultra-thin bezels, large super-elliptical corner radii and a flat wraparound chassis. The rear panel houses a horizontally oriented, racetrack-style camera module with three lenses and an LED flash.
Display and Structural Engineering

- The Xiaomi 18 Fold features a 5.38-inch cover display and a larger 7.58-inch foldable internal screen.
- Its hinge system uses Xiaomi’s next-generation “dragon bone” hinge, which incorporates a water-drop profile, a three-level linkage mechanism and edge-to-edge protective framing.
- The inner display uses a dual-layer Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) construction designed to improve resistance against punctures, while the exterior surfaces are protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.
- The chassis is manufactured using aerospace-grade 7-series aluminum alloy.
According to Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun, these structural improvements give the device a drop-resistance rating of up to 1.2 meters, bringing its durability closer to that of conventional candybar smartphones. Compared with the previous-generation Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, Xiaomi claims a 258% improvement in resistance to sharp-object impacts and a 214% increase in resistance to steel-ball drop impacts.
Lu Weibing, Partner and President of Xiaomi Group, said the Xiaomi 18 Fold is designed to move foldable smartphones beyond the early-adopter segment and establish them as mainstream flagship devices capable of competing with conventional smartphone designs in everyday use.
XRING O3 Flagship Processor Debuts

The Xiaomi 18 Fold and Xiaomi Mi Pad 9 Pro Max will be among the first devices to feature Xiaomi’s in-house XRING O3 flagship chipset. The processor is designed to deliver high-performance computing, advanced AI processing, and intensive graphics capabilities.
| Component | Technical Specifications | Claimed Generational Improvement |
| CPU Architecture | Deca-core all-big-core configuration with dual SME2 acceleration units | Multi-core score above 15,000, representing a 60% improvement over the previous generation |
| GPU | G2-Ultra NX architecture with 8 integrated NX neural accelerators | 85% higher graphics rendering performance and 64% lower power consumption |
| NPU | Redesigned for Xiaomi MiMo edge models, delivering 200 TOPS tensor and 3.13 TFLOPS vector performance | 45% improvement in edge AI processing |
| Memory Interface | Support for the LPDDR6 mobile memory standard | 113.8 GB/s bandwidth, 48% higher than Xuanjie O1 |
| AnTuTu Score | More than 5.22 million | First mobile SoC claimed to surpass the 5-million mark |

Beyond the CPU, GPU and NPU, the XRING O3 integrates dedicated hardware for additional processing tasks. Its ISP includes an AI Night Reduction (AINR) engine, while the Display Processing Unit (DPU) incorporates dedicated AI super-resolution hardware. The Audio Digital Signal Processor (ADSP) also features an integrated AI engine.
Battery and Charging
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by a 6,000mAh Jinshajiang battery featuring high-density stacking technology. With a 20% silicon-content battery formulation, Xiaomi claims an energy density of 920 Wh/L.
Charging support includes 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
Availability
Xiaomi is set to showcase the Xiaomi 18 Fold at IFA 2026 later today. The company is expected to announce the full pricing details, regional availability, and compatible accessories during its September 7 launch event.
