Google Pixel Watch 4 Specs Surfaced online revealing the Same Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 Chipset
According to a report from Android Authority, Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 4 may continue using the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, making it the third year in a row the same platform is utilized, following its debut in the Pixel Watch 2.
No New Chipset for 2025 Model -
Although Qualcomm is reportedly working on a next-gen “sw6100” wearable chipset with major improvements, it’s unlikely to be ready in time for the Pixel Watch 4. A switch to Samsung’s Exynos W series is also improbable due to two key reasons:
- Google is anticipated to shift to its own custom wearable processor starting next year.
- The availability of Exynos chips outside Samsung remains uncertain.
Despite no upgrade, the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 remains a strong performer, delivering smooth performance and reliable battery life in current Wear OS devices. Google has also extensively optimized the platform over the past two Pixel Watch generations.
Two Size Options: 41mm and 45mm -
The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to be offered in two sizes, similar to previous models:
- 45mm model – codename: kenari (FK23)
- 41mm model – codename: meridian (FME23)
Unlike the deity-themed codenames of past models, these are named after Star Wars planets. Both versions are expected to be available in Wi-Fi and LTE variants.
Battery Upgrades -
Although the chipset remains unchanged, battery capacities are expected to increase:
- 41mm model: 327mAh (up from 307mAh)
- 45mm model: 459mAh (up from 420mAh)
Support for faster charging is also expected, though specifics haven’t been disclosed.
Launch Timeline -
The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to be unveiled alongside the Pixel 10 series on August 20, 2025. While renders and color leaks have already appeared online, Google has not officially confirmed any specifications or launch details yet.
