HONOR Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max launched with dual 200MP ARRI cameras, 8800mAh battery along with Magic9 Super Edition

HONOR has launched its latest flagship smartphones in the Magic9 series, the HONOR Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max in China, along with the HONOR Magic9 Super Edition. The Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max come with ARRI co-branded camera systems, while the Magic9 Super Edition features a different imaging setup.

HONOR Magic9

The HONOR Magic9 is equipped with a dual 200MP ARRI co-branded camera system, consisting of:

• 200MP primary camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/1.9 aperture, and CIPA 7.5 stabilization
• 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture, and CIPA 7.5 stabilization
• 50MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.0 aperture
• 55MP front camera with a 1/2.74-inch sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and 1:1 square full-frame support

The imaging system is powered by HONOR’s 6nm Yuguang H1 imaging chip, which delivers 18.8 TOPS/W efficiency and supports lossless RAW-domain noise reduction. Its ARRI LogC3 workflow supports all 87 official ARRI Look profiles along with the ARRI LUT ecosystem, including ARRI Environment-5220 and ARRI Contrast-7120.

ARRI Live Photo allows these profiles to be applied to three-second 4K video clips in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The camera system also includes a 200MP zoom-flash portrait mode, variable-focus flash, and one-click AI colour matching with before-and-after grading comparisons.

HONOR is also offering the Telephoto Extender G200 accessory, which weighs 88g and measures 81mm.

Display

The HONOR Magic9 sports a 6.37-inch OLED display with a 1236 × 2664-pixel resolution, support for 1.07 billion colours, DCI-P3 colour gamut, a 95.6% screen-to-body ratio, and 460ppi pixel density.

The panel supports 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz refresh rates, along with 3840Hz PWM dimming, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and ZREAL. It reaches up to 10,000 nits of peak brightness, 2,000 nits of global brightness, and can drop to as low as 1 nit.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the Magic9 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and packs an 8,000mAh Qinghai Lake silicon-carbon battery with 25% silicon content.

The device supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. HONOR says the wireless charging system is compatible with more than 300 in-car 50W wireless charging models.

Other features include the third-generation C3 RF chip, a seven-chip RF architecture, HONOR Hongyan AI Cloud Map, and IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for protection against water and dust.

The 6nm Yuguang H1 imaging chip delivers 18.8 TOPS/W efficiency and supports lossless noise reduction directly in the RAW domain. The ARRI co-engineered imaging workflow adds ARRI Image Science-enhanced sensor calibration, ARRI LogC3, 10-bit colour depth, and ARRI Wide Gamut 3.

According to HONOR, this imaging pipeline increases the signal-to-noise ratio by 8dB and enables up to 14 stops of cinematic dynamic range. The ARRI CINEMA Mode supports video recording at up to 4K 60fps. The phone also includes 14 preset ARRI Looks and access to the 87-look ARRI Look Library, alongside Master Mode Venice and Minnan.

ARRI Live Photo, also called Cinematic LiveVideo, records three-second 4K clips in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The camera system also supports 200MP array zoom-flash portraits, square photo and video framing, and AI-powered colour replication.

The G200 telephoto extender expands the native 85mm focal length to a 200mm equivalent, while the G500 extends it to a 500mm equivalent. The G200 weighs 88g and measures 81mm. HONOR also offers a SmallRig Professional Video Expansion Rig with multiple mounting points.

Audio

For audio recording, the Magic9 Pro Max features a four-microphone Cinematic Directional Microphone system with up to 20m of directional pickup. HONOR claims 462% higher hardware-level noise reduction capability, 158% greater pickup sensitivity, and an 84% narrower directional beam.

The phone also features an 8cc acoustic chamber, 0.88mm speaker stroke, HONOR Sound AI spatial audio, and dual SGS certifications.

Performance and Battery

The Magic9 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform and houses an 8,800mAh battery with 1,000Wh/L energy density and a 40% silicon-carbon anode composition.

Charging support includes 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. The phone also supports 50W wireless charging across more than 300 compatible car models.

Display

The device features a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1320 × 2868-pixel resolution, 1.07 billion colours, DCI-P3 colour gamut, a 95.33% screen-to-body ratio, and 464ppi pixel density. It supports an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The display reaches up to 10,000 nits of peak brightness, 6,000 nits at a 20% window, 2,000 nits of global brightness, and as low as 1 nit for minimum brightness.

A 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating reduces reflectivity to 1.5%. The display is further protected by Diamond Giant Rhinoceros Glass, which HONOR claims offers up to 25× higher drop resistance, 15× improved scratch resistance, and 3× greater wear resistance.

Other features include the C3 RF chip, HONOR Hongyan AI Cloud Map, IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings, 3D Face Recognition, and 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint Recognition.

Unlike the Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max, the HONOR Magic9 Super Edition does not feature an ARRI co-branded camera system. Instead, it comes with a four-camera setup comprising:

Design and Battery

The phone measures 161.78 × 76.72 × 8.10mm and weighs approximately 227g. It packs an 11,000mAh battery, which HONOR claims can deliver more than 20 hours of outdoor navigation, over 7.5 hours of indoor gaming, and more than 33 hours of video playback.

For thermal management, the device combines an active micro-fan with a multi-layer nanoscale vapor chamber and 12W/(m·K) thermal gel. The 30,000RPM Dongfeng Turbo Cooling system is claimed to improve cooling efficiency by 30%.

The Magic9 Super Edition is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and also includes the C3 RF chip, HONOR Hongyan AI Cloud Map, and IP68/IP69/IP69K protection.

AI Eye-Care Technologies

The HONOR Magic9 and Magic9 Super Edition come with 10 AI-based eye-care technologies, while the Magic9 Pro Max adds feature for a total of 11. All three smartphones have received TÜV Rheinland Full Care Display 6.0 certification.

It also features Circular Polarized Light 2.0, which is claimed to increase lutein utilization by 64.9%, AI Circadian Night Display with a claimed 20% increase in melatonin levels, and 4320Hz PWM dimming.

MagicOS 11 and YOYO AI

All three models run MagicOS 11, based on Android 17. The latest software introduces a translucent liquid-glass interface along with liquid animations that HONOR describes as a first for Android.

YOYO AI brings a range of new capabilities, including a dedicated AI key for generating video highlights, stitching subtitles, clipping videos, and converting videos into Live Photos.

YOYO Tasks enables users to issue multi-step voice commands and handle tasks such as scheduling trending topics, tracking music, and monitoring market and stock information. Other additions include YOYO Proactive, YOYO Code Hub, and YOYO Schedule.

The AI Call Assistant can navigate automated phone menus, connect users with human agents, generate call summaries, and synchronize information with the calendar. MagicOS 11 also supports natural-language interaction and semantic search across AI Calendar, Voice Recorder, Notes, and File Manager.

Other YOYO features include YOYO Memory, incoming-call notifications from iPhone, and cloud-based photo synchronization. The software also enables Apple Watch synchronization for call alerts, YOYO suggestions, and health metrics, along with interoperability between Mac and iPad.

HONOR has further added tap-to-share functionality with OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, and Apple devices, as well as Insta360 media transfers. Multi-device collaboration and workflow continuity are also supported across HONOR devices.
