Nothing Ear (3) launched with 12mm drivers, LDAC, up to 45dB ANC, Metal case with Super Mic
Nothing has launched its latest flagship true wireless stereo earbuds, the Nothing Ear (3) in the Global Market, as promised. The latest model brings notable upgrades, including a refreshed integrated metal design and a unique “Super Mic” system built into the charging case.
Key Features and Innovations -
The Ear (3) continues Nothing’s signature transparent look but now integrates polished metal elements. A slim Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) antenna enhances signal strength and sensitivity compared to its predecessor. The charging case itself is crafted from 100% recycled aluminum, reinforcing the brand’s focus on sustainability.
One of the standout additions is the Super Mic system, a dual-microphone setup located in the case. According to Nothing, it can filter out ambient noise up to 95 dB, ensuring clearer voice capture during calls. Users can also record voice notes directly from the case, which are automatically transcribed within the Essential Space app.
For call performance, each earbud is equipped with three microphones and a bone-conduction Voice Pick-up Unit (VPU). The VPU detects subtle vibrations from the jaw and ear canal, enhancing voice pickup even in noisy environments. Complementing this is an AI-powered environmental noise cancellation engine, trained on a vast dataset to effectively suppress wind and background disturbances.
The earbuds also introduce Real-time Adaptive Noise Cancellation, capable of reducing noise by up to 45 dB. This system dynamically adjusts based on the user’s surroundings and earbud fit, ensuring optimal performance in any environment.
Audio and Performance -
The Ear (3) upgrades to a 12mm dynamic driver (up from 11mm in the previous model), featuring a patterned diaphragm designed to enhance bass and treble response while delivering a broader soundstage.
Battery life is rated for up to 10 hours per earbud with ANC off, and up to 38 hours including the charging case. A quick 10-minute charge provides 10 hours of playback. The case supports both USB-C and wireless charging.
Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC support, though LHDC 5.0 from the predecessor is missing. For gaming and video, a low-latency mode reduces end-to-end delay to under 120 ms. Both the earbuds and charging case carry an IP54 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes.
