OnePlus Ends Hasselblad Partnership, Unveils New DetailMax Engine for Upcoming Flagship

oneplus detailmax engine ends hasselblad partnership.

OnePlus has officially announced the end of its five-year collaboration with iconic camera brand Hasselblad. The partnership, which centered on enhancing color science and computational photography, will now give way to OnePlus’s own imaging system, the DetailMax Engine.

In its statement, the company highlighted Hasselblad’s “refined aesthetic sense,” noting that it has become part of OnePlus’s “imaging DNA.” The collaboration originally aimed to merge Hasselblad’s expertise in color calibration with OnePlus’s computational photography to deliver more natural and accurate photos.

    The DetailMax Engine -

Looking ahead, OnePlus is moving toward an in-house imaging solution to better align with user demands for “clear and real” photos, particularly when zooming in. Developed from the ground up, the DetailMax Engine is designed to usher in a new era of computational imaging that emphasizes depth and realism while avoiding over-processing. According to the company, the system will harness “greater processing power and advanced algorithms” to capture richer detail and preserve authenticity.

    Future Outlook -

Although the engine is still in its prototype phase, OnePlus expressed confidence that its next flagship—widely expected to be the OnePlus 15—will set “a new benchmark for clarity in its class.”

This development comes amid speculation that OPPO’s Lumo Image Engine, rumored for the Chinese version of the OnePlus 15 running ColorOS, could be rebranded as the DetailMax Engine for global markets. The shift also follows OPPO’s extension of its own Hasselblad partnership for the Find Series, now in its fourth year.
