Oppo Find X9 Ultra could feature Sony’s New 200MP Sensor, same as the Galaxy S26 Ultra

OPPO Find X9 Ultra camera specs leak.

Oppo is developing its next flagship, the Find X9 Ultra, which has been at the center of numerous leaks,  most notably hinting at a significant camera upgrade. According to recent reports, the device will sport a cutting-edge 200MP main camera, and now, renowned Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has shared new details about the sensor powering it.

According to the leak, Oppo will be using a yet-to-be-released 200 MP sensor that Sony is currently developing. This sensor boasts a sizeable 1/1.1-inch type size, which, while not quite reaching the coveted “1-inch type” classification, comes remarkably close. Such a large sensor size generally means improved light capture, better dynamic range, and enhanced low-light photography — all key selling points for a premium flagship camera system.

Interestingly, Samsung is also rumored to be adopting this very same Sony sensor for its upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, set to debut in 2026. If both companies indeed go forward with this choice, it could create an unusual scenario in which two competing flagship devices rely on identical main camera hardware. This would shift the competitive edge toward software optimization, image processing algorithms, and overall camera tuning rather than pure hardware advantages.

However, the extent of this rivalry may be limited in practice. Oppo has a history of restricting some of its top-tier Find X Ultra models to the Chinese market, and there is speculation that the Find X9 Ultra might follow suit. If so, the two smartphones would rarely go head-to-head globally. Conversely, in China — where Samsung’s market presence is relatively small — direct competition would still be minimal.

As for its debut, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is expected to launch after the Chinese New Year, which falls on February 17, 2025. Digital Chat Station hinted that the release could come earlier than its predecessor’s April 10 unveiling, suggesting a likely March announcement. This would position the Find X9 Ultra as one of the earliest flagship launches of the year, giving Oppo a head start in showcasing its latest technological advances before Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra arrives later in the year.

With a new high-resolution Sony sensor, potential early launch, and rumors of shared hardware with one of Samsung’s most important future flagships, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched smartphones of 2025.
