Qualcomm launched Snapdragon X Platform in India to Expanding AI PC Market
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has launched its Snapdragon X platform in India, following its debut at CES last month. This move aims to bring AI-enabled personal computers to a wider audience while delivering Copilot+ PC experiences.
The Snapdragon X platform is powered by a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of 45 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) of AI performance. Qualcomm highlights its focus on on-device AI capabilities, enhanced performance, and extended battery life.
Designed for premium experiences in a portable form factor, the platform features the Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which the company claims offers significant performance-per-watt advantages over competitors—delivering up to 163% faster performance at ISO power, while rivals require 168% more power for similar output.
The integrated GPU supports graphics-intensive tasks such as presentations, web browsing, and content streaming, while the 45 TOPS NPU enhances efficiency across various workloads.
Qualcomm also emphasizes affordability, aiming to improve laptop user experiences with features like 5G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and the Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite for immersive audio. Privacy-focused features provide security from chip to cloud.
The first Snapdragon X-powered laptops in India are the ASUS Vivobook 16 and Zenbook A14, starting at Rs. 65,990, now available for pre-order. Qualcomm expects more OEMs to adopt the platform in the future. With the Snapdragon X platform, Qualcomm aims to make AI-powered PCs more accessible in India by balancing performance, efficiency, and affordability.
Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Compute and Gaming at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., shared his thoughts on the launch:
"As AI continues to play a crucial role in daily life, we see a significant opportunity to revolutionize the PC industry. The Snapdragon X platform will help us expand our presence in India, bringing advanced AI-powered computing to a wider audience. By making these technologies more affordable and accessible, we aim to enhance productivity and elevate user experiences."
