realme 16T launched in India starting at Rs. 29,999 with 6.8-inch 144Hz display, Dimensity 6300 SoC, 8000mAh battery

realme has officially launched its latest smartphone in the 16 series, the realme 16T in India, successor to last year’s realme 15T, as previously announced. Promoted with the tagline “All-Star Battery. Superstar Portraits,” the smartphone focuses on combining exceptional battery life and rugged durability with a slim and ergonomic design.

Durability

The realme 16T comes with an IP69-rated build for pro-level water resistance. Beyond standard IP68 protection, the device is engineered to withstand industrial-grade high-pressure and high-temperature water jets up to 80°C.

The phone also features an ArmorShell 4-Layer Drop Protection Structure, which includes reinforced raised corners, an internal airbag cushioning system, a metallic middle frame, and a strengthened metal drop frame. It has successfully passed MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock resistance certification.

Design

The realme 16T 5G adopts the new Gleaming Wings Design, featuring shimmering multi-colored particles on the rear panel that create dynamic sand-gradient effects under changing light.

The device is available in three color variants in India:

• Aurora Green
• Starlight Black
• Starlight Red (India-exclusive)

Performance

The smartphone is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset and is paired with a large 5300mm² AirFlow VC vapor chamber cooling system. According to realme, the setup ensures stable 60FPS gaming performance while keeping temperatures under control.

Display

The phone features a large 6.8-inch Sunlight Display with support for up to a 144Hz refresh rate, delivering smoother visuals and responsive interactions. It offers a typical brightness of 975 nits and can reach up to 1200 nits in High Brightness Mode, ensuring clear visibility even under direct sunlight. The display also includes DC Dimming technology to help reduce eye strain during extended nighttime usage.

Software Experience

The device runs realme UI 7.0, which introduces the Flux Engine animation and scheduling framework. Backed by realme’s 6-Year Fluency Protection, the software uses Extended Use Care 2.0 and AI Boost 3.0 to optimize background resources and reduce storage fragmentation, helping maintain smooth performance over time.

The interface also receives visual enhancements such as frosted Misty Glass Control Centers, updated Ice Cube Icons, and the responsive Breathing Dock.

Camera

The realme 16T 5G features a Sony-powered primary camera system supported by AI-based image processing technologies for improved photography across different lighting conditions.

It includes a 50MP Sony IMX852 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Similar to the realme 16, the phone also incorporates a rear-mounted mirror that helps users frame selfies using the main rear camera.

AI Imaging Features

Realme has introduced several AI-powered software features within the 16T 5G’s camera system to enhance portrait photography and optimize lighting effects.

• LumaColor IMAGE Engine: Enhances skin texture, tone, and lighting balance while reducing lens distortion. It works alongside RAW HDR processing and custom white balance tuning for improved shadows and highlights.
• AI Portrait Glow: Designed for low-light and backlit scenarios, this feature analyzes facial lighting and applies brightness compensation. Users can choose between lighting styles such as Flash, Rim Light, Natural Light, and Studio Light.
• AI Popout Collage: Let users create multidimensional collages where subjects extend beyond traditional photo frames.
• AI StyleMe: Generates stylized avatars and profile images with modes including “AI Profile Portrait” and “AI Football Star.”
• AI Instant Clip: Automatically converts selected photos and videos into short cinematic clips in around 10 seconds.

Battery and Charging

A major highlight of the realme 16T 5G is its massive 8000mAh Titan Battery, making it the biggest battery ever featured in a numbered realme smartphone. According to realme Lab tests, the battery can comfortably deliver up to three days of usage under heavy workloads.

Despite the large battery, the device remains relatively slim at 8.88mm thick and weighs around 224g.

• 45W Fast Charging: Supports 45W charging, capable of charging the phone up to 50% in 48 minutes. A quick 5-minute charge can provide up to 7% battery backup.
• All-Scenario Bypass Charge: During gaming or navigation, power is supplied directly to the system instead of charging the battery, helping reduce heat and battery wear.
• 7-Year Battery Health: realme claims the battery can retain over 80% of its capacity even after seven years of usage.
• Wired Reverse Charging: The device can also function as a power source for charging accessories and other gadgets, including earphones, cameras, and smartphones.
