Xiaomi has begun teasing the launch of its next premium smartphone in the Redmi K80 series, the REDMI K80 Ultra, and successor to the REDMI K70 Ultra. Alongside the smartphone, Xiaomi will also unveil the REDMI K Pad, marking REDMI's entry into the flagship compact tablet segment.

REDMI K Pad: A Premium Compact Tablet -

REDMI China head Thomas Wang highlighted the challenges in creating a flagship tablet—particularly in achieving a compact and lightweight design. The REDMI K Pad will feature one of the most advanced LCD screens in the industry, boasting ultra-high resolution and dual-driver ICs for synchronized data, brightness, and color control.

To maintain a slim and lightweight profile, the tablet incorporates specially customized components such as motors, speakers, and the display unit. Each component undergoes extensive testing, including validation across more than 100 prototype devices, with overall R&D investment surpassing that of larger tablets.

As REDMI’s first flagship compact tablet, the K Pad will introduce several industry-first technologies for Android tablets. Wang claims it will outperform the iPad mini in every aspect, offering a premium experience within a price point of under 4000 yuan (approx. USD 557 / Rs. 47,995).

Leaks suggest the tablet will feature an 8.8-inch 3K CSOT LCD display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165Hz refresh rate, and support for 67W fast charging.

REDMI K80 Ultra: Flagship Performance, Affordable Price -

The REDMI K80 Ultra is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset and come equipped with a 7400mAh battery supporting 120W fast charging. Wang has already referred to it as the “most luxurious performance king” in the sub-3000 yuan (approx. USD 418 / Rs. 36,005) price range.

Both the REDMI K80 Ultra and REDMI K Pad are expected to launch in China in early July.
