Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Appeared on Geekbench listing with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Android 14
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S24 series in January, and today, the Ultra variant designed for the US market has made an appearance on Geekbench. The device, known as SM-S928U, is listed with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset (with the codename "pineapple"), featuring a CPU configuration of 1+3+2+2.
The primary core operates at a speed of 3.30 GHz, which is slightly lower than the previous generation Snapdragon flagship. However, the other core configurations are more impressive: the second cluster consists of three cores running at 3.15 GHz, the third cluster comprises two cores at 2.96 GHz, and the final two cores are clocked at 2.27 GHz. The tested phone was equipped with a relatively modest 8 GB of RAM. It's also expected to run Android 14, most likely with the One UI 6.1 overlay.
The benchmark results showed a single-core score of 2,234 and a multi-core score of 6,807. These scores represent a significant increase compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with a 15% improvement in the single-core score and a substantial 35% boost in the multi-core score.
The key takeaway from this Geekbench listing is not just the raw performance figures. It confirms that Samsung is once again planning to offer a variety of chipsets for its devices. While the Exynos 2400 platform will be used in some of the Galaxy S24 flagship models, it appears that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be exclusively powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in some countries.
