Split screen multitasking coming to iOS8?
Code-diggers have found that iOS8 has code which hints at split-screen multitasking, wherein you can run two apps side-by-side. The code fragment was discovered by Steve Troughton-Smith who found the code in Springboard (iOS launcher) app where references are made to "main-screen-canvas-size" which allows for apps to use half of the display or in a 1/4 + 3/4 configuration.
iOS8 is still in beta stage and we expect a final release sometime in three months. Its strange that Apple has not announced this feature at WWDC, meaning it could be coming in a future release and not iOS8, since developers would have to update apps if this feature goes live.
