Xiaomi has launched its latest premium smartphone in the T series, the Xiaomi 17T in India, as previously announced. Positioned as a compact imaging-focused flagship, the smartphone combines Leica-engineered optics, an advanced eye-care display, and next-generation battery technology in a sleek form factor designed for comfortable one-handed use.

Leica Cameras and Live Moment Photography

The Xiaomi 17T continues Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica, placing photography at the forefront of the user experience. The smartphone features a triple-camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor with a large 1/1.55-inch sensor size. The main camera is equipped with a Leica Summilux lens featuring a 1G + 6P optical structure and Leica UltraPure optics to enhance light capture, clarity, and image detail.

A major upgrade comes in the form of a 50MP Leica telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The telephoto system supports a wide range of shooting scenarios, from detailed macro photography at distances as close as 30cm to 10x optical-grade zoom and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom.

The Xiaomi 17T also introduces Leica Live Moment across all rear-camera focal lengths. This feature captures brief motion before and after the shutter is pressed, preserving natural expressions and dynamic scenes. Leica Live Portrait mode further enhances portrait photography with natural-looking background blur while maintaining fluid subject movement.

To help users capture challenging scenes, Xiaomi has included dedicated shooting modes such as Stage Mode, which is optimized for concerts, performances, and other high-contrast lighting environments, ensuring improved image and video clarity.

Advanced Display with Xiaomi Vision Care

The Xiaomi 17T debuts Xiaomi Vision Care, a display technology designed to reduce eye fatigue through intelligent adaptation based on medical research and environmental conditions. The system dynamically adjusts blue light levels, flicker control, and motion blur while adapting to surrounding lighting conditions.

As a result, the device has received TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care certification.

The smartphone features a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3500 nits for enhanced outdoor visibility. Ultra-slim bezels maximize the viewing experience, while micro-curved edges contribute to a more comfortable grip and premium appearance.

The design is complemented by a refined brushed-metal-style frame and is offered in several color options, including Violet, Blue, and Black.

Powering the Xiaomi 17T is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra processor, built on an efficient 4nm process technology. The chipset is designed to deliver smooth multitasking, responsive performance, and enhanced gaming capabilities.

To maintain consistent performance under demanding workloads, Xiaomi has equipped the device with its advanced 3D IceLoop cooling system. The thermal solution uses vapor-liquid separation technology to efficiently dissipate heat and keep temperatures under control during intensive usage.

Despite its slim and lightweight design, the Xiaomi 17T houses a large 6500mAh battery based on next-generation silicon-carbon technology. Xiaomi says the new battery design delivers an 18% increase in capacity compared to the previous generation while maintaining a compact footprint.
