Xiaomi ruffles feathers in the US, even before making an official entry
Earlier this week we heard that US Mobile will be carrying Xiaomi and Meizu smartphones in its online store. Although the carrier never claimed they were the official distributor of Xiaomi in the US, Xiaomi nevertheless issued a statement saying that US Mobile is "not an authorized seller."
The confusion arose when US Mobile listed some Xiaomi smartphones on its online portal, orders for which would be fulfilled by a third party. Moreover, US Mobile said that they would provide service for the products, which made it sound like an official entry by Xiaomi in the US mobile space.
However, Xiaomi later cleared-up the mess prompting US Mobile to take down the listings.
We know Xiaomi has been selling accessories online in the US, but the company has yet to launch a single smartphone here. But we have been hearing of Xiaomi smartphones visiting the FCC for certification and recent announcement of the Xiaomi Mi5 being unveiled at MWC 2016 is a step in that direction.
