Motorola Moto G gets a Google Play Edition for $179
Although the Moto G runs almost stock Android, a Google Play Edition of the phone has now been officially announced. The Moto G Google Play Edition is now available from the Play Store for $179 for 8 GB variant unlocked and off-contract. Just like every other Play Edition device, the Moto G too comes with the latest android version i.e. Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Moto G is not your typical budget device, it features some excellent specs under the hood:
- Display: 4.5-inch, 1280 x 720 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass Protection
- Processor: 1.2 GHz quad-core, Snapdragon 400
- GPU: Adreno 305
- OS: Android 4.4 KitKat
- Memory: 1 GB RAM, 8/16 GB internal non-expandable storage
- Primary Camera: 5 MP, 720p video recording, LED Flash
- Secondary Camera: 1.3 MP , front-facing
- Connectivity: 3G, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS support
- Battery: 2070 mAh
Although we have heard that the Moto G will be coming to India at the end of January, it seems that Google might take the Play Store route to launching it here. Since the company already has a distribution network in place which it used for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 5. If the Moto G is available through the Play Store it would most probably not be the GPE, but the one with Motorola's customizations.
