Samsung Begins One UI 8 Stable Rollout, Expands to Galaxy S24, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, and More in October

    Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 8 update based on Android 16, beginning with the Galaxy S25 series, following the beta release in May. The update introduces advanced multimodal AI features, a UX optimized for various device form factors, and smarter, personalized suggestions.

    Rollout timeline and eligible devices -

    After the Galaxy S25 series, the update will be expanded to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, and additional devices throughout October.

    From late this year, One UI 8 will reach the following models -

    • Galaxy S series - S23, S23 FE, S22, S21 FE
    • Galaxy Z series - Fold5, Flip5, Fold4, Flip4

    With One UI 8, Samsung introduces smarter features that deliver personalized and proactive suggestions based on each user’s context and daily routine, alongside a series of upgraded security measures to better safeguard private data.

    • Now Bar - Shows real-time app activity and media playback progress directly on the Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow, with support for more third-party apps.
    • Now Brief - Provides daily updates on traffic, reminders, and Samsung Moments. It also recommends music and videos tailored to user preferences and subscriptions, while integrating health insights from Samsung Health and Galaxy Watch.
    • Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) - Creates secure, app-specific encrypted storage, ensuring each app only accesses its own sensitive data.
    • Knox Matrix - Enhances device security by automatically signing devices out of a Samsung Account if serious threats like system tampering or identity forgery are detected. It also pushes alerts across connected Galaxy devices to guide users in protecting their data.
    • Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) - A next-gen cryptographic framework that boosts network protection and privacy when using public networks.

    One UI 8 harnesses multimodal AI—blending visual, auditory, and contextual intelligence—to simplify daily tasks. The interface is also tailored to seamlessly adapt across Galaxy devices, from smartphones to tablets.

    • Gemini Live - Enables real-time communication with AI that understands what users see. Now available on the FlexWindow for hands-free voice search.
    • Circle to Search with Google - Offers instant in-game assistance—just circle an object on the screen to access details, links, and videos. Enhanced translation supports real-time, on-screen text conversion into the user’s preferred language.
    • AI Results View - Presents AI-generated results, such as Writing Assist, in Split View or Floating View to keep the original content visible.
    • Galaxy AI for Large Screens - Optimized for tablets, it allows users to drag and drop AI-generated content directly into their workflow.
